So, we always just assumed the giant 'M' in the McDonald's logo represented the 'M' in McDonald's.

Well, it's true, but there's also another reason the famous golden arches look the way they do!

Have you ever thought that the logo might look like a pair of boobs? If you have, then you're right in thinking that!

In the 1960s, McDonald's hired design consultant and psychologist Louis Cheskin to come up with a new logo, Food Beast reports. In the book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, author Eric Schlosser revealed that Cheskin convinced McDonald's executives that breast-shaped arches would send a subliminal message and help bring in customers with the sexual innuendo.

Cheskin called the arches 'mother McDonald's breasts' and theorised they had a significant subconscious impact on the human brain. People like boobs, so therefore people will like burgers? True story.

In case you're interested, here's how the evolution of Macca's logos happened:

Looks like it basically hasn't changed since then! So those boobs must be working (or maybe it's just the delicious morsels).
