Diamond Field is a new solo/collaborative ‘synthwave’ project from ex-pat New Zealander ‘Andy Diamond’, now based in New York City.
A truly international effort, ‘Neon Summer (My Heart Is Wild)’ was was written and produced in New Zealand, Canada and NYC and features Brooklyn’s Nina Yasmineh on guest vocals. The full eight-track single release features remixes by leading synthwave artists Sunglasses Kid (UK), Vincenzo Salvia (Italy), Who Ha and Phantom Ride (USA) and was mastered in Tel Aviv by Highway Superstar. The ‘Neon Summer’ video was shot in Santa Monica by LA-based NZ film maker Mark Tierney (Strawpeople).
Diamond Field is part of the emerging “synthwave” scene which is heavily influenced by the music and pop culture of the 1980s, reimagined for the 21st Century. In 2011 the movie “Drive” with its pulsing 80s-style soundtrack featuring Kavinsky, Electric Youth and College set the scene for a revival of synth music. Now, artists such as Mitch Murder, Com Truise and Miami Nights 1984 are making serious (new) waves into the modern musical landscape…
