Indie pop artist and Muriwai local, Rita Mae is turning heads with new single 'Real Love'
Rita developed her own writing style, allying a unique feel for melody to her emotional lyricism. She delivers a blend of genres and feeling, emotional lyrics combined with alternative pop production, that will have you feeling everything all at once. For reals.
Rita released her EP, Superfeeling earlier this month, featuring songs dating back to her first release; The Secret’s Out, Someday, through to a lovesick showstopper, Night Drive, and the anthemic Candy’s House.
The 24-year-old's 2023 bingo card has supporting Gin Wigmore and Broods across Aotearoa crossed off!
After a stint in Dunedin, snagging a degree in neuroscience, she returned to Auckland to immerse herself in learning music production, searching for her sound in the all-encompassing genre of contemporary indie pop.
Committing herself to the art of music-making has seen the songwriter put herself through the paces, including a couple of years spent doing regular open mic nights to help conquer performance anxiety.
"My nerves would kill me. I'd be on stage and couldn't sing because I was so shaky – now I don't feel that way."
She's currently in LA on a music-writing trip 😱 Rita Mae is one to watch!! Show her some love on her socials 💗 Instagram | Facebook | TikTok | YouTubeÂ
