The Hemingway

This is the largest group drinking personalities.
They are the ones who change very little after even large amounts of alcohol.
Author Ernest Hemingway, claimed that he could 'drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk'."
These lucky drinkers showed fewer reductions in conscientiousness and intellect and were more reliable and organised.

The Nutty Professor

These drinkers can change quite dramatically and it's all to do with gaining Dutch courage when drinking.
Nutty Professor personalities go from introverted, quiet people when sober, into more outgoing characters.
20 per cent of people surveyed fell into this group - with more men than women.

The Mary Poppins 

15 per cent of drinkers embody the sweet, gentle and kind traits of Mary Poppins.
This group is mostly female and they manage to retain their friendly, cooperative and compassionate nature and are responsible drinkers who experience fewer alcohol-related problems.

The Mr Hyde

These people become increasingly disagreeable as they drink alcohol.
They show large reductions in conscientious and intellect, a lot like Dr Jekyll's sinister alter-ego.
According to the researchers, these drinkers have "a tendency of being particularly less responsible, less intellectual, and more hostile when under the influence of alcohol than they are when they are sober".
They are the most likely to experience memory blackouts or be arrested because of drunken behaviour.
This personality is 23 per cent of the drinkers, with two thirds of them being female.
