Girlies af after reading anything Colleen Hoover ^^
It Ends With Us as a book received so much love from the girlies so naturally the announcement of a film adaptation got readers absolutely fizzing. However, people's excitement has only lessened since more information about the movie is becoming public as we get closer to the release date in August.Â
Production kicked off in May 2023, and fans were quick to capture clips from set and comment on their distaste for the looks and fashion involved in the costumes. Fans of the book were also not impressed with the casting and Blake's portrayal of main character, Lily Bloom. Fans pointed out the age difference between Blake (36 years-old) and her character Lily (23 years-old).
Â
Fans commented on the post referencing the casting choices saying "not my atlas, not my lily, not my alyssa", "The casting for Atlas took a backseat then" and "None of these pictures are capturing the look or essence I had in my head when reading the book. 🥺🥴😂"
Upon release of the trailer, Justin, who plays Ryle Kincaid, addressed criticism stating that he's not too bothered by what people have to say (per Entertainment Tonight).
Now with the release of the first official trailer, people are flaming the film even more.Â
"I understand when you love something so much, you know, social media is amazing in [the] way it gives fans a voice. And if it were not for the fans, we would not be making this movie. So let them talk. And I don't worry about that too much." Colleen also commented on the backlash noting that she didn't really describe the characters' fashion sense in the book.
