Harry Potter fan theory claims that Professor Snape didn’t die after all

Harry Potter fans all know that Professor Snape's death was one of the most heartbreaking things to hit us in the series. The potion master reached his end after receiving a fatal bite from Voldemort's snake.

But what if he didn't die after all?

That's the theory that Reddit user Der_Gottkaiser has come up with.

First of all, there's the moment when Harry uses the resurrection stone – and Snape fails to show up.

Der_Gottkaiser says: ‘You’d think Snape was very important to Harry, he loved his mother, gave his life to save him, and shielded him all his life.

‘Harry just found out how Snape had been protecting him the whole time and died to save him, so when he used the magic ring that brings the spirits of dead people, you’d think Snape would be there.

‘He certainly knew Snape longer than Lupin, and you’d think Snape was far more important to him than Lupin, but Snape wasn’t around. Perhaps he was not dead.’

Secondly, he also references the moment that the bodies of Fred Weasley and Remus Lupin are laid out after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Perhaps tellingly, Snape’s body isn’t there.

‘After the big battle, they lay out all the bodies, all the people who died, even the death eaters and Voldemort’s. Harry sees Loin’s and Fred’s body, but Snape’s body isn’t there’, the theory states.

‘You’d think Harry would have told everyone about Snape’s sacrifice so they can find his body too. But nope, Snape’s corpse isn’t found.’

Finally, there’s the very nature of his death – with Voldemort’s snake Nagini sinking his fangs into Snape.

Surely any self-respecting potions master would have an antidote of some kind?

‘Just think about it, do you really think a POTIONS MASTER wouldn’t have access to anti-venom?’ the theory states.

‘You think he wouldn’t have prepared for the possibility that Voldemort’s snake might turn on him? He was playing a dangerous role as a spy, Voldemort could turn on him at any moment I think Snape would have obviously taken some kind of prophylactic antidote beforehand.’

Now our minds are wild with the possibilities that perhaps our beloved Snape is actually living. What would he be up to? Hopefully keeping a caring, watchful eye over Albus Severus Potter.

We can but dream.
