Here's Why Guys Always Put Their Hands Down Their Pants

Why do men insist on resting their hand down their pants?

Apparently they have a biological drive to do it - there are a few subconscious reasons for doing so. 

First of all, they're keeping their crown jewels warm. Testicles hang low because sperm like lower temperatures but that doesn't mean everyone wants to be chilly down there.

Secondly, they need to protect themselves. Vanessa Van Edwards, author of Human Lie Detection and Body Language 101: Your Guide to Reading People's Nonverbal Behavior, wrote that men just subconsciously want to protect themselves. 

"You could think of the hand there like insurance against a friend who might give them a nut jab or a kid who accidentally hits a ball at them," says Van Edwards.

Aaaaand thirdly, it calms you down. Stroking yourself in a non-sexual way can release oxytocin, the ‘love hormone’ that we release when we kiss or have sex, see our family members or cuddle a pet, according to Frontiers in Psychology.

So apparently there are reasons for this that we can't argue with. Except that....ew....
