Kiwi Passport Holder on Board MH17

At least one New Zealand passport holder was on board the crashed Malaysia Airlines flight MH 17.

Foreign Minister Murray McCully says MFAT is following up on indications that at least one was a New Zealander and other passengers with New Zealand connections may have been on board.

He says the Ministry's working hard to confirm details and make contact with the next of kin.

Currently 27 Australians have been confirmed as passengers as well as six Brits, four Germans, three Filipinos, one Canadian, 154 Dutch, 23 Malaysian and 11 Indonesians.

New Zealanders who believe they had a family member on MH17 and are unable to contact them should talk to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Consular Division on Wellington 439 8000.

If you have any concerns for the welfare of family thought to be on MH17, you should attempt to contact them directly.

If you are unable to contact them and still hold concerns for their welfare, you should call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Consular Division on +64 4 439 8000.

Malaysian Airlines have established a Help Line in Kuala Lumpur which concerned family members are also encouraged to call - +603 7884 1234.
