Fear not Aotearoa, a 'normal' Kiwi summer is on the way with the introduction of vaccine cards!
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced the introduction of vaccine cards which will likely to be implemented next month.
Once you are fully vaccinated you will receive the card which will allow you access to events and locations that may be considered a higher risk, such as concerts and festivals.
“Simply put, it is proof that you are fully vaccinated and therefore pose less risk to the people around you,” Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said at the 1pm press conference today.
The vaccine cards, often referred to as vaccine passports, have been widely used around the world with great success.
As of yet, we are not sure exactly what these 'higher risk' events will be, but the government has assured vaccine certificates will not be needed for supermarkets and health services.
If you haven't received your vaccine yet, make sure you visit Vaxx.nz for walk-in vaccinations, or the Ministry of Health website to book at a venue closest to you.
