Millie & Liam have split 1 year after winning Love Island UK 2021 and we're sadsies

It's official. Everyone's fave couple and winners from season 2021 Millie & Liam of Love Island UK have called it quits after 1 year of dating.

The pair confirmed the split on their Instagram stories after rumours emerged of the split. 

Millie wrote in a statement, “Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated. It's been a tough decision and I am gutted but it's ultimately what is best for us right now.

“Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island and the past year and I wish Liam all the best in everything he does."

Liam echoed her sentiments in an equally length statement saying that he is "honestly so gutted" that the pair have "sadly separated", adding, "but thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship."

Millie & Liam ended up splitting the £50,000 grand prize after winning the show and went on to move into a £1million home together in November last year. 

After some speculation that Liam was to blame for their split, Millie took to Insatgram once more to confirm that this wasn't true, with Liam re-sharing the story.

She said, "I'd also like to ask you guys to please not believe everything you have read in the press or have seen on social media. Last thing I want is people to say nasty things about Liam or put the blame on him, or vice versa, it wouldn't have ended on a good note like it did if anything had happened."

"Going through a break up is hard enough as it is, let alone when people are spreading nasty rumours that are simply not true. Please remember we are human beings too, we have feelings and to always, always be kind. You never really know what someone is going through."

She added, "I'll continue posting as normal, but again please be mindful of what you are commenting. Love you guys xxx."

We really thought these two were end game but I guess it is what it is...
