Netflix has announced a remake of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre to arrive later this year

Netflix has announced they are working on a sequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film from 1974. 

What is known as one of the OG films from the Horror genre, Tobe Hoopers 47-year-old masterpiece still brings shivers to most. The iconic sound of that metal door slamming... 

Although there have been several sequels, reboots and remakes of the first, non have captured audiences quite like the original. So Netflix has vowed to change that. 

The news was first leaked by The Hollywood Reporter who gave some inside as to the direction of the new Netflix project. 

‘The new movie takes place years after the shocking events of the original, in a setting where Leatherface hasn’t been seen or heard from since…

The film seeks to pick up where the Hooper and Kim Henkel film initially left off, bringing the most notorious horror franchise back to life in the same bold and provocative manner that it was first introduced to the world,’ the outlet wrote.

Eighth Grade‘s Elsie Fisher will star alongside Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore and Moe Dunford.

As of yet, there has been no confirmed date for the release, although it is expected to hit the streaming service later this year.
