Singing Taylor Swift whilst undergoing brain surgery?!?! GIRL YOU HAVE GOT TO BE THE ULTIMATE SWIFTIE
Selena Campione had been experiencing tingling and numbness down the right side of her face and body for nearly a year. The 36-year-old mum had no diagnosis, even after visiting numerous doctors and taking a variety of medications.
In a press release, Selena explained how the symptoms were only getting worse. “There were days I would get up where I couldn't walk. I couldn't use my right hand. My face would swell up. I couldn't speak, I would get stuck. I couldn't get words out. And nobody knew what to do.”
Selena was eventually referred to the Jersey Shore University Medical Centre where she started getting some answers!! Selena was told that the symptoms she was experiencing could be due to a couple of different brain tumours.
After the probable diagnosis, Selena underwent craniotomy to remove the brain tumour. If that wasn't intense enough, Selena did it AWAKE! 😨😨
In order to ensure her speech is preserved after the surgery, she had to remain awake and engage the parts in her brain which control speech during the whole surgery.
Rather than absolutely CHEWING the doctors' ears off during the surgery, Selena decided to sing Taylor Swift the whole time instead! 💅💅💅
Selena wasn't mad about it either! “It was fantastic. I didn’t feel anything. The nurses were holding my hand, walking me through everything and singing along with me. I even think I’ve turned the doctors into Swifties.”
Selena sung 22, Shake It Off and Style, PLUS all the other Taylor songs that her two daughters play 24/7!
The tumour wasn't cancerous, and the surgery was successful! 🤩🥳💖🥰
