If there's one thing that is massively expensive in New Zealand it's dental work.
Amos Dudley had braces when he was a kid, but he never wore his retainer.
This ended up having major consequences over time, the alignment of his teeth slipped to the point that by the time Dudley was a 20-something college student, he was embarrassed to smile.
Fortunately with his ingenuity combined with the latest technology, Andy was able to solve his own problem with just a few bucks!
Dudley used the 3-D printer from the University he attends to create a mold of his teeth to figure out what was going on.
He researched the different ways that aligners could be used to move teeth and even the recommended distance a tooth could travel in a set period of time.
Then he made a series of 12 models that could essentially move his teeth from where they were to where he wanted them to be.Â
After wearing the models over 16 weeks....voila! It was done!
Dudley is quick to point out that while this solution worked for him, it's probably not for everyone.
The dental industry is taking notice at his breakthrough and most importantly Dudley is smiling again!
