Founder of France's National Front party, Jean-Marie Le Pen, is suing a dancer for taking an unflattering selfie of him on a plane.

Professional dancer and one of Madonna's ex-boyfriend's, Brahim Zaibat, posted the photo captioned: "Let's all vote tomorrow to give them a knock-out blow. To preserve our fraternal France" on 12 December after sharing the same flight as Le Pen.

It was also the day before the second round of France's regional elections.

Le Pen is trying to claim €50,000 (NZ$82,945) in damages from Zaibat, French magazine Public reported.

Le Pen was later expelled from the party by his daughter Marine after a public rift.
