A woman who fed water to pigs on their way to slaughter has been charged with criminal mischief and interference of property.
Anita Krajnc says she was called a ‘dumb frickin’ broad’ for her actions by the man driving the animals to the slaughterhouse during the June incident.
Anita was arrested and now faces a potential jail sentence.
Anita is the co-founder of Toronto Pig Save, a vegan organisation which holds vigils for animals on their way to slaughter.
When the charges were announced, Anita said: ‘Offering water to a thirsty pig is an act of compassion.
‘It is not only a right, but a duty we all share. Causing the pigs to suffer in the first place is what is wrong.
‘I face these criminal charges with dignity, knowing that truth and justice are on my side.’

After seeing the footage, New York farmer-turned-vegan Bob Comis argued the pigs, who are gasping in the clip, were all exhibiting signs of ‘severe heat stress’ and needed help.
The TPS has inspired a wider movement in the US called Save which has successfully campaigned for several companies to stop selling eggs from battery-farmed chickens.
